Like Aunt Bethany’s lime Jell-O mold it is a gift one receives with polite gratitude and veiled embarrassment. It is whisked to the kitchen from where it is eventually served as part of the holiday feast, and dutifully consumed. It is a gift because, with so much in doubt, it is just what is needed right now for people of faith to reconnect with the saving God in whom we put our trust in life and in death.
Lent: An Awkward Gift on the First Sunday in Lent at the Reedville Church this Sunday, Mar. 6, 9:30 am, in-person and by Zoom at the usual link. Contact the church office if you need it.
