It’s an expression of incredulity, sometimes with breath of sarcasm or judginess mixed in. Really? You’re going to wear that? Really? Lasagna again?
Really? It all boils down to justice, kindness, and humility? The prophet lays it down clearly: Do justice, love kindness, walk humbly with God. And Jesus offers an alternative vision in the Beatitudes. It turns priorities and values upside down in ways that continue to shape, define, and perplex us.
