Jesus certainly got the attention of his listeners on the day of this reading from the Gospel according to Luke: he told them that he wanted to gather all of them “as a hen gathers her brood under her wings.” He used a feminine image! That wasn’t often done, at all. How do we show ourselves as those who are among the gathered?
