When the going gets tough, the not-so-tough start hardening the lines. It’s part of who we are to assign some “in” and some “out.” Maybe it serves a purpose in some settings. But in the big scheme of things God seems to have retained that privilege. God’s approach is to be merciful to all, which might have an impact on how we draw our lines.
