Hospitality & Public Presence at Reedville--The Basics
Our congregation has been present in the Reedville community for over 100 years and we are actively involved in projects that enable justice and peace in Washington County. We have partnerships with the public elementary school next door and with a grassroots organization for migrant and service workers. We tutor at Reedville Elementary school and provide childcare at their PTA meetings and participate in several food and clothing distributions for the migrant workers group.
Our clothing closet provides clothing to elementary-aged children and outdoor work clothing for adults. Donations of clean clothing in these categories may be left at the church. The clothing closet is open on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. or by appointment. Volunteers help sort clothing and can help out at times that fit with their schedule.
We enthusiastically support the mission of the Presbyterian Church (USA) by pledging a portion of our church income each year to its mission throughout our country and around the world. We also contribute to the Theological Education Fund and receive the 4 special offerings of our denomination—One Great Hour of Sharing, Pentecost, Peacemaking, and Christmas Joy—which support programs that address a variety of needs.
We extend hospitality to many groups and organizations who use our building, including Boy Scouts and Alcoholics Anonymous, and have hosted occasional community meetings. We enjoy that our church building is well used and busy with activities much of the time and feel our building is an important resource in our community.
